Curbside Collection Cancellation for Tonight's Overnight Collection Late Monday, February 2/Early Tuesday, February 3, 2026
Curbside collection for areas receiving overnight collection is cancelled for Late Monday, February 2/Early Tuesday, February 3. These areas include Grand Lake Road, Roads Off Grand Lake Road, Kytes Hill Subdivision, Gardiner Mines and Reserve Mines.
Rescheduled Collection Date for the Late Monday February 2/Early Tuesday February 3, Overnight Run
The re-scheduled collection date for the cancelled Late Monday/Early Tuesday Overnight Run is Late Wednesday, February 4/Early Thursday February 5. The rescheduled areas for this collection include Grand Lake Road, Roads Off Grand Lake Road, Kytes Hill Subdivision, Gardiner Mines and Reserve Mines.
- Only extra garbage and green cart materials will be collected during this rescheduled collection date.
- Blue bags will be collected on the area’s next regularly scheduled blue bag collection week. (Week of February 8)

Curbside collection is cancelled for Monday, February 2.
- EXTRA garbage bags and green cart material will be collected on your area’s next regularly scheduled collection day.
- Blue bags will be collected on your area’s next regularly scheduled blue bag collection week.

CBRM's Blue Bag Program expands to include more materials
Circular Materials—the producer-led, not-for-profit organization operating in Nova Scotia—launched Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) for paper and packaging on December 1 across Nova Scotia. Residents can now place even more materials in their Containers and Paper Products blue bags.

Collection Update for Friday, January 30, 2026: Whitney Pier
Curbside collection in the Whitney Pier area is behind schedule today, Friday, January 30.
Curbside Collection: Weather Reminder
If the weather forecast calls for unfavorable conditions and it is your collection day, you can choose to hold on to your materials until your area’s next regularly scheduled collection day.
- Extra garbage bags and green cart material will be collected on your area’s next regularly scheduled collection day.
- Blue bags will be collected on your area's next regularly scheduled blue bag collection week.
If you decide to place your materials curbside, it is your responsibility to make sure the material remains secure at the curb.
If your material is not collected, by 9pm on our collection day, remove it from the curb. It is your responsibility to remove any uncollected materials.

Reporting Green Cart Damage
Residents are encouraged to check their green cart for damage on a regular basis.

If you notice any damage, contact the Waste Management Hotline. An educator will document the damage and add your civic address to the Green Cart Repair/Replacement waiting list. The department's repair person will visit your civic address to assess the damage. If your green cart can not be repaired, a replacement green cart will be issued.

A resident can also mail or drop off the filled out Green Cart Repair Request Form to the Solid Waste Administration Office on Spar Road in Sydney between 8am and 4pm Monday to Friday.

The seasonal leaf and yard waste drop-off sites located in North Sydney, Glace Bay and New Waterford open one day a week are CLOSING the week of November 9.

Commercial businesses hauling waste to the Waste Management Facility are required to register with the Solid Waste Department. To save time, download and fill out the Solid Waste Facility Site Registration Form .
